Are you expecting a baby and would like more information about breastfeeding?
If you are expecting for the first time, you may be feeling overwhelmed with the vast amount of breastfeeding information found in books and on the internet. Advice from family and friends can be conflicting and at times inaccurate. Both mothers and babies need to learn breastfeeding basics through practice, patience and time. My role is to empower you as a woman, instilling confidence and facilitate bonding.
Perhaps you are expecting multiples and aren't quite sure how to manage more than one. Time management and positioning are often common concerns when feeding multiples.
Or maybe you are an experienced breastfeeding mom but need help finding the time to nurse while caring for a newborn and other children.
Returning back to work can create stress particularly if the workplace is not conducive to breastfeeding. Developing a plan that is catered to your specific situation can help make for a smoother transition.
Often breastfeeding isn't black and white. There are occasions when a mother is unable to breastfeed. Medical conditions and breast abnormalities may affect a woman's ability to breastfeed leaving her with feelings of guilt and inadequacy. Grieving for this loss is normal, but difficult if left to deal with alone. By providing non-judgmental support I can help you discover new ways to bond with your baby creating a deeply satisfying emotional connection.
Preemies or newborns with special needs may not be able to nurse at the breast right away. As a Breastfeeding Counselor I can help you gradually transition your baby to the breast and prevent problems that can impede breastfeeding. Misinterpreting your baby's cues or having inaccurate information can cause self-doubt leaving mothers to question whether they are doing something wrong.
As a Certified Breastfeeding Counselor I can help you create a plan designed specifically for your family, allowing mother and baby to settle into their own natural rhythm. Troubleshooting breastfeeding problems early on is essential to building self esteem and reducing stress.
My knowledge and gentle guidance can help you and your family get off to a good start. Breastfeeding takes patience. My step by step approach and hands on support can help you achieve the joyful and memorable breastfeeding experience you and your baby deserve.
