Twins and More
Parents of multiples have more challenges especially when it comes to feeding. Feeding two or more babies, particularly if born premature can be very time consuming. Preemies tend to eat smaller amounts more frequently leaving mom little time for rest. Sometimes they are not able to breastfeed right away and mom will need guidance in the use of a breast pump, collection, and storage of breast milk. Exhaustion and sleep deprivation can occur very quickly. As a Breastfeeding Counselor I can provide the educational, emotional, and physical support necessary to care for multiples. I can help mom get into comfortable tandem positions to nurse her babies which maybe challenging without an extra set of hands. Having snacks and drinks readily available will help mom keep up with her increased nutritional requirements. Time management and establishing a feeding schedule can also be difficult with multiples. As a breastfeeding counselor I can help you understand your baby's cues helping you to flow with the natural feeding rhythm. Having hands on support and guidance can reduce stress and allow mom to confidently care for multiples.
